The Way to Nirvāna
If kama [lust] attacks you enter the vihara [monastery] of renunciation. If hunger hurls his fire at you enter the vihara of noble birth. If greed shoots his arrow of gold at you then enter the vihara of noble conduct. If fascination throws a glance at you from his eyes then enter the vihara of the heart of wisdom. If pride assails you with silver then enter into the vihara of constant thought [i.e., concentration]. If envy throws loaves and fishes at you then enter the vihara of transcendental miracle. If the fear of dissolution hurls its ice at you then enter the vihara of the lamp of immortality. If war starts perturbation in your heart then enter the vihara of the prince of courage. If impurity soils your mind then enter into the vihara of zero’s purity.
If homelessness tempts your mind then enter the vihara of the king’s coronation, and sit on the throne of diamond. Thus, O disciple, you will come to Nirvan [Liberation].
