Metals and fire will have their revenge upon the fleshborn. Years will roll by and the powers of ether and earthquake will be harnessed by the lust-born creatures for their own undoing. Then the dematerialised spirits that dwell in the air will be enslaved as carriers of fire, ether and radium weapons for the destruction of the earth-dwellers. The present war [World War II] is but a village riot compared to what is to come in a quarter of a century. . . Cilized man will bring about the complete destruction of mankind.
What are metals? Metals are man's great-grandfather. Metals must be the remains of some form of lfie long since extinct, probably belonging to a period prior to the Volcanic Age. Coal is the remains of trees, chalk is the remains of animal bones, salts are also animal remains, and mineral oils and tar were at one time living vegetation. In the same way all precious stones—diamonds, rubies, sapphires—must have been at one time some form of life that floursihed on the surface of the earth. Metals were living beings of the animal or human order. . .
Metals will enable man to discover the most most incredible, unimaginable secrets of Nature. But this has a purpose—metals will ultimately bring about man's destruction. Unless the world completely renounces metals Dame Peace will never b e able to feel that her life and future is secure on this planet.
