Hershoff, Asa. Homeopathic Remedies. Foreword by Jane Seymour. New York: Avery, 2000. Paperback, xiii + 319 pp.
Hershoff, a naturopathic physician and chiropractor specializing in homeopathic treatments with over 25 years of experience, is well qualified to write the present guide. The book is organized into four major sections. The first 47 pages explain the homeopathic approach to healing, while the next 39 pages are dedicated to “body systems,” such as nervous, circulatory, respiratory, digestive, urinary, musculoskeletal, and metabolic systems. At the end of the book, you will find 5 pages of resources, which, however, are geared only toward an American readership.
The bulk of this guide consists of homeopathic treatments for over 100 ailments—from abscesses to anxiety, colds, fibromyalgia, headaches, hypertension, low back pain, sciatica, sinusitis, and warts.
This book is well organized and includes helpful diagrams and illustrations in the opening sections. The discussion of symptoms is straightforward, and the reader will readily find the right remedy for a whole range of conditions. This is the most user-friendly reference work I have come across.
